Microsoft Excel Basic

If you don't know how to start using Microsoft excel, then probably this tutorial suits for your needs. I will show to you the basic terms in excel.
Just take a look at the picture below.

The following terms are the basic terms that are always used in excel:
1. Workbook
    In layman's term is a book. A book is composed of many chapters. In each chapter, it has discussions. Just like in workbook, it is the excel file you are opening right now. It is composed of many worksheets.
2. Worksheet
   See in the picture above,  there are tabs where in the default name are Sheet1, Sheet2 and Sheet3. These are your worksheet. You can rename it if you want to. If you have different data, you can separate them by using different worksheet.
3. Cell
   To call the value easily, cell address is very important. Cell address made up of rows and columns. This is the intersection of Column and Row.
4. Column
   In the picture above, these are A,B,C,D etc..(left to right)
5. Row
 In the picture above, these are 1,2,3,4 etc..(top to bottom)

For example:
A1 = means column A, row 1
D25=  means column D, row 25

Hint:
If you click a cell, its name will display in the name box located in top right just below the clipboard.
So you don't need to check its intersection.

Trick:
Sometimes you need to know the equivalent number of column name.
For example T. Can you think immediately that its equivalent to number 20?
Yes you can if you memorize it A-Z. But what if ZZ? Can u guess?
There's an easiest way.

1. In the File menu, click options. New pop-up window will appear.

2. Click Formulas.
3. Find the item "Working with formulas". Check the checkbox for "R1C1 Reference Style"
4. Click OK.

Now, in your column is now number instead of alphabet.
This is very useful especially when you're doing VBA Macro.
